Easy evening run that just clicked

Yestereday took the day off, I wanted to give my leg a bit more of rest.

At 6:30 p.m. I headed out to the conservatory and wanted to take it easy, got to the conservatory in 7:35, then did 6 laps in 6:03,6:02,6:01,6:02,5:56,5:48, everything just clicked today, I felt very easy, but the pace was pretty much normal. I just fel awesome today, wish the race would have been today, completed the 45 mins and felt like I did not run at all, one of those days I guess!!

Then talked with Jose and Alexis that were there, Good times!!

Today my vacations come to an end I get back to work tomorrow!! :S

Evening maintenance run

Yesterday  took the day off to give my shin a bit of rest.

Today headed out to the conservatory at 6:10 p.m. and did 6 laps there, got there in 7:18 which is the fastest that I have gotten there in years, did not feel too confortable to be honest, then proceeded to do 6 laps there , 3 of them with Jose the effort felt a lot faster than the actual splits 5:56,5:46,5:46,5:41,5:48,5:42, Jose ran with me from lap 2 through the 4th. I felt confortably hard, but no acid lactic accumulation, so I think I just felt heavier than I should, the pace was not fast, but I felt like I was moving and had to keep focus. Great!! and I have to run 1 min faster per km on Saturday! I think I am in worse shape than December, We will see on Saturday! To be honest I have not done anything different From December and in fact I trained harder then. Anyways I just want to compete and get back to the racing scene once again. Completed the 45 mins there and talked some with Jose, He had to stop due to a side stitch, but He was more confortable than me maintaining that pace !! The weather was good!!

Catching up: Injured??

On Saturday I ran in the evening at 5:50 p.m. did 6 laps there and completed the 45 mins, laps were between 6:15 and 5:45 the last one, kept things easy, but the left shin is bothering me a lot, when I warmed up it went away, but then appeared again with a couple of laps to go, and when I stopped walking it appeared again, it seems that I was hit in the left shin.

Today I headed out at 9:25 a.m. and the leg bothered me just before running, I almost turn back and call it a day walking down the stairs, I decided to give a go, I started limping some, but after a couple of mins the pain goes away and could run normally again, it seems that I can run through it because it tends to improve significantly withing 2 mins of running, if it were the opposite I would just to cut out the running, luckily this is not the case and I am good to go that way, I ran 6 laps to the conservatory, felt very good when I got there in 7:39, but then started feeling very tired despite the slow pace, laps were 6:23,6:17,6:11, 6:07,6:05, then headed home to complete the 7.5k in 46:15, feeling very tired and heavy. As soon as I finished, the left shin bothered me inmediately I stopped, I am stretching it a lot after runs, but I think I ll just continue to run through because like I said it improve once I warm up a bit. The weather was very hot!

I am racing next Saturday and I ll have to keep and eye on that thing, I dont plan to stop the running despite the pain, at worst I ll do 20-30 mins run, but I ll race on Saturday!!

Nice evening easy run

I again went out with Danilo to the conservatory around 6:30 p.m., got there in 7:40, then did 6 laps and completed the 45 mins as I am doing the last few days. splits per lap were : 6:05,6:03,6:00,5:55,5:44,5:44, the pace felt really good and very under control, it seems that the Strides that I did yesterday paid off since the effort was very easy but the pace remained the same.

The weather was just fine.

The left shin still bothering me, it improved as the run went on, but when I stopped I could feel it, I always have suffered from shin splints, but thats after several sessions of tempo and intervals, but I have not done any of it in a while, so dont know the reason of it to be honest, I have not pushed the pace at all. Anyways, felt really good and feeling that shape is coming back slowly.

Good evening run

Yesterday I took the day off, my left shin was bothering me, I think that it was due to the 7 straight days that I ran, did not recall the last time I did that.

This evening at 6:30 p.m. I headed out with my brother to the conservatory to get there in 7:46, then We I did 6 laps in 6:07,6:07,6:05,6:01,5:48,5:42. Felt really good today, felt better and better as the run went by. After completing the 45 mins I did 4 x 15-20 seconds strides to get the legs turnover a bit. I felt almost smooth on these, the problem was the belly moving from right to left and viceversa, it seem that I need to get rid of the fat if I want to run fast. The chow fang with fried chicken does not help for dinner.

I am feeling really good running and I very motivated, running gives me happiness.You feel great after a run, no gym can give a feeling like that, I ll keep going to the gym, but my priority will always be running. I am a runner at heart!

The running continues

Today I headed out with my brother at 6:30 p.m. to the conservatory and I did 6 laps with him( He did more), there in the 2nd lap Jose joined us and He ran the remaining laps with us. Splits were 6:03,5:59,5:44,5:30,5:21,5:21, then completed the 45 mins. Basically it was a race between the 3 of us, of course I did not red line, but the effort was hard at times, I could recover at the finish though, breathing went back in control. The weather was good and the atmosphere there was awesome!! I have 7 days running in a row, dont remember the last time I did such a thing. Bring on consistency!!

Early evening run

Today I eat lunch at 11:40 a.m. because I was running earlier than normal today at 4:30 p.,. since today We resume the Finances course.

I went out with my father and We both felt unconfortable stomach wise,  I got to the conservatory in 7:33 I did 4 laps there  in 6:16,6:17,6:09, 6:04, From the conservatory to home I did it in 6:29.

I start to loosen up after the 3rd lap, not the most pleasant run to be honest, but I felt really good at the end. Finished the 6.5k in 39:19, big negative split today.

Weather was hot!

Good end to the week

Today went out with Danilo at 4:50 p.m. or so to the conservatory and We did 5 laps there and back home, I dropped him in the first 600s and never looked back, I did not run any faster than the other days, He was way slower! laps were 6:22,6:16,6:05,6:05,6:08. then back home in 46:01. My brother did it in 47:09. He is a lot faster than mine, but He ran too slow for me today! He say that if He keep training at that effort, He will destroy me during easy days soon, but I just run how I feel, I dont run too slow on purpose. 5 runs this week! Last two weeks were good weeks of running.

Chill evening run

I want to apologize because I am a little drunk right now, its 1:23 a.m.  and I just got home to post.

This evening at 5:50 p.M. I just went to the conservatory and did 6 laps there in 6:13,6:08,6:05,6:03,5:58,6:00, just holding back and running easy, I stopped there and walked some, completed the 45 mins total, 7.5k total or so.

Evening shortie

Today I headed out running with my brother to the conservatory at 6:30 p.m., There We met Jose and We did 4 laps together, then I did 1 more lap to finish there in 37 mins. The 5 laps were in 6:03,5:46,5:32,5:29,5:40?. The last lap I did not time it correctly. Felt really good, but these guys went ahead and if I tried to go after them, it would become a medium-hard effort, which is not the goal at this time of the training. Anyways, it was going to run with company, pace feels easier that way. The music was good and the enviroment was good overall.

Today was not sure about running, but then decided to go and as the mantra says " you never regret a run/or exercise in general". Felt great afterwards!!

Back to it

Tuesday decided to rest, because I had 4 days in a row of running, not  much, but I have to take it slow, Wednesday I have a groin problem so I had to take the day off as well, that means that I need to run the remaining days of the week so I can make 5 times per week of running.

Today I headed out at 6:00 p.m. to the conservatory in 7:25, I did not feel that well when I got there, but did 6 laps anyway in 5:59,6:01,6:03,5:46,5:37,5:59, The splits were all over the place after the 3rd lap, but I was feeling a strong cramp and slowed down some, completed the 45 mins of running. Felt happy to have completed my run. Around 7.5k total.

Zapping the zero

I generally rest on Mondays but since I am on vacation I need to take advantage of that. At 6:00 p.m. I headed out to the conservatory and ran 6 laps there in 6:05,5:56,5:52,5:55,5:51,5:40 and stopped there. I completed the 45 mins there , then walked some and headed back to home walking and talking with my friend Jose, who by the way ran a couple of laps with me, but had to stop due to a knee problem. He is new to this thing, so I told him to take it easy.

I felt good sometimes and felt bad in some laps, luckily, felt decent in the last couple of laps, since I had loosened up. The weather was hot , no sun but I was soaking wet when done.

Evening run

Today I ran in the evening because I tracking a friend  running the dopey challenge in Disney, that consisted in 5k,10k, half marathon and a marathon in 4 days in a row. That guy is amazing, He not only completed the challenge, but the times were blazing fast. That guy is an inspiration to me.

At 6:15 p.m. I headed out to the conservatory and got there in 7:27, and did 5 laps there in 6:18,6:12,6:08,6:05,5:58, then back home and did the 7.5k in 45:27. Its time to ramp up the mileage a little. I felt a bit off when I started but after the 3rd lap loosened up a bit, I am still tight in the outer part of the calf, especially on the uphills.

Glad that I got back to the 5 times per week of running this week, I ll run more this week since I am on vacation, probably ll run 6 times this week.

Things are moving forward

This morning headed out to the conservatory with my father and did 4 laps there. Got there in 7:37, then did 4 laps in 6:09,6:07,5:56,5:37, from the conservatory to home did 6:06, so increaded effort and felt good doing so. The problem was that my father was gaining on me on every lap( He was doing laps in opposite direction), and in the last lap I told him to go ahead that I would catch him later, I sped up, but when I was about to go off the conservatory I was ahead of him, I kind of wait for him, but then decided to go with the flow, finished the 6.5k in 38:06(father in 38:51), first half in 20:09,last  half in 17:5xx? All in all feeling better and getting back into shape, definately going to run the 5k on January 31st.

Loosening up

Yesterday did not run, because I started to push the run forward and never happened.

This morning at 8:20 a.m. headed out to the conservatory with my father, got there in 7:22, dont remember the last time that I got there this fast. Then did 4 laps in 6:05,6:03,6:01,5:58. Its very hard for me to run sub 6 mins in the laps, but at least I felt good, and after the third lap is when I started loosening up. Did 6.5k in 38:39. Felt good and the weather was decent.

Repeat of yesterday

Basically I did today what I did yesterday and at the same time which was around 9:30 a.m. to the conservatory and 3 laps there without a watch. Around 5.5k total. Today felt much more confortable but the burning in the legs is stil there, it seems that I have not run in ages, anyway what I really cares is that I am running, I have another 5k on January 31th, that I want to run sub 24 mins, its possible, but its just the beginning of the year so I will take just one day at a time and see what happens, the most important for me will be to maintain the consistency, and to come back slowly but surely.

Today I ran in my new kicks which are Adidas, they felt really good, the cushioning was very cool, my old shoes were just too worn out and there was not a lot of cushioning left.

The wather was too hot at that time of day, but I enjoyed the run nonetheless. Have a great night everyone!

Building back up

Had not run since past Thrusday, the motivation to go the lights park  was very low, luckily that stuff finishes up tomorrow, and I ll be able to run inside the park without dodging that amount of people.

Today I started to train hard for the year, I ran 5.5k without a watch in the conservatory, did 3 laps there, felt like s%$#%t and very heavy, the sun was shining hard, and ran right behing a pretty blonde for a couple of laps. All in all happy to have started training again, I want to get fast this year!!but by doing that I need to lose a ton of weight!!

I am in vacation right now till January 30th, so plenty of time during the day to train. Tonight I ll hit the gym for Biceps and back.

First run of 2015

Today I headed out at 5:20 p.m. or so alone to the conservatory to do 4 laps outside the conservatory, I got there faster than expected in 7:27, then did 4 laps 7:38,7:31,7:26,7:20, then increased a bit the effort and did the last 1.2k in 6:08 for a total of 43:34, my second best time in that route. I felt good, the pace was not that easy, but I felt really fresh!! The weather was fine and I am happy to have gotten my run in!!

Thoughts on 2014

For me 2014 was full of highs and lows, I had difficult months where I had to remain very strong in order to not collapse, I had to remind myself that love is freedom and nothing is forever,I learned that I am the most important person in my life and my needs  and desires come first, no matter what!! that might sound selfish to some, but in the end if you dont take care of yourself or you are not happy first, then you wont find happiness in other people.

I am a very strong person, and things that dont kill you, make you way stronger than before!!I should cover more on this but its just not appropiate, remember! this is a running blog :)!

Running wise that was a roaller coaster year for me, I have very inconsistent months of training, and some consistent month of training specially from October till December, I raced around 3 5ks, I think the first one was over 24, I dont race with a watch and the race did not have a clock. the other too were in 24:44 and 24:01. Not the best year, but when I ran sub 22 mins, I just weighted much more less than 165 pounds, now I am 194 pounds, and I need to cut that s##t out if I want to make some progress timewise. I just want to stay consistent and shed of the weight and see what happens,, the times should go down a lot.

I started visiting the weight room 2-3 times per week, and that should help with the metabolism-weight loss combination. Ha! but if I dont stop those fried chicken none of it wont help, but damn I love chicken!!

I have faith that 2015 will  be a better year, and I want to make sure that that happen by taking action towards my goals,
