Feeling better

Yesterday at 8 p.m. I ran again in the Blasco park, with the sun shining and a lot of people running, each day less people, but still a lot of people. Seeing a lot of people that I had never seen before in that park.

I did the same 6 laps (5.4k), in 31:43, I tried to slow down a Little, but I felt Good an kept the effort controlled. First lap in 5:31, then progressed down to 5:10 at the same effort. Was very sore still, but less tahn in previous days. Today (Thursday) when I type this I am feeling pretty Good, no longer sore. I Will keep running the same distance for this week at the same effort.

I Will run tonight again and looking forward to it!

Slow down!

Today I ran again at 20:00  or 8 p.m., luckily at that time the sun still shining and it seems like 6 p.m. I did again 6 laps, trying to slow down, but did 31:18, faster than I intended. I felt really Good cardiovasculary, but the legs still pretty sore. Laps were 5:21 the first lap, and the last one was 5:08. most of the laps were 5:10-5:11.

Felt Good and easy, but the legs very sore. 31:18 for 5.4k. Enjoyed this run and a lot of people in the park. A lot of people that I have never seen before in the park.

Have a great Tuesday!

Zapping the zero

Today I headed out to run at  08:00 p.m. because that is the Schedule we are allowed to run at nights. Its very clear though, not that dark like 2 months ago. Its getting dark around 9 p.m., so even when I finish the sun is out.

Today I must admit that I exceded myself again. There were a lot of people in the Blasco park, I had never seen so many people in that park. Sometimes I had to speed up in order to advance a runner and keep the social distance, but it was difficult to maintain a decent distance. At same time, it was Good to see so many people.

I did 6 laps in the Blasco park in 30:34, so yeah it was very fast for my current fitness. I did not feel bad, but the last couple of days I have been pretty sore. Cardiovasculary I am feeling Good though. Tomorrow I Will run very easy on purpose, so that I dont overdo things. Splits per lap were: 5:21,5:15,5:04, 5:03, 4:57, 4:50. My brother appeared in my 4th lap, He was cheering me on and went to the park to say hi, I had not seen him since 6 weeks ago and I was very happy to see him. That motivated me and I ran even faster. Of course, it was not that hard and I was not pushing, but given my current fitness and the situation, its better to keep things easy and come back slowly. Weather was Good, but I swated, so the cold is gone. Felt Good and happy to have run!

Have a great start to the week!

Easy does it

Once again today I headed out the door at 07:30 a.m. to the Blaco park. Still several people, but less than yesterday. My routine Will be the same for the next week. 6 laps in the Blasco park at an easy pace, after that I Will probably ramp up to my normal 8 laps.

I was sore today, maybe I exceded myself yesterday, or maybe at whatever pace that I ran, I would feel soreness because of the long inactivity. Did 6 laps (5.4k) in 33:11, so 61 seconds slower than yesterday, and probably the right effort and pace given my actual fitness. Anyway, I am running at a pace that feels easy. Felt pretty Good again today, my breathing was quite controlled, so as I said yesterday, maybe I have not lost the shape that I thought. However, the come back has to be slow and Smart. Weather was very nice, as opposed to the afternnon/evening that its too hot!

Happy to have run once again! Have a great Sunday!

Back to the running :)

Today  woke up at 7:00 a.m., after going to bed at 1:30 a.m., yes this luck down really messed with my sleeping Schedule.  I hope that going back to the running really fix my sleeping patterns.

:Anyway, I went to the Blaco park at 7: 30 a.m. (5.4k) at an easy pace and to test my effort to see if I have lost a lot of fitness. I certainly have lost fitness, but not as much as I thought. In fact I felt Good, not great, but not bad either. As son as I started running, my groin was sore, but after a couple of mins, I felt "normal " again. I did 6 laps in 5:25,5:22,5:22,5:18,5:22,5:18. My easy pace today was faster tan my normal easy pace in the park. I was fresh, and did not have the 5:50s that I normally do in my legs. Anyway, easy runs does not translate to fitness. I have certainly lost fitness, and it Will take several months to be back to where I was. The process wont be as painfully as I thought, in fact I feel is going to be pretty fun. I felt so happy to be back at the running! A lot of runners and walkers in the park, I have never seen so many people running at that time in the morning, spanish runners are not that early birds, but given that the government instructed specific hours to exercise, so no option. It was Good to see people exercising, everyone was respecting the distance and the space of the other person, so that is a Good sign. The weather was Good, these days are pretty hot, but at that time the temps were Good. Did 6 laps in 32:10.

I Will do the same distance probably slower for the next week, next probably Will ramp up to my normal 7.2k (8 laps ) routine. The general advice is to run every other day now to get back into things, but I Will desobey, I Will run everyday probably. I have  been running a lot of years running and have a lot of experience eventhough I am not fast. I have rested a lot (6 weeks) to only run every other day, plus I am used to running 5-6 times per week, and given today`s feelings I am not that bad. As I said yesterday I have been eating healthy these days because all the junk food stores are closed.

Another reason to run everyday for next week is that you dont if they are going to luck us down again so taking advantage of every run while we can.

Looking forwards to tomorrow`s run!

Have a great day!

Tomorrow back at the running

I am happy because tomorrow finally we are allowed to exercise outside, so that is going to be my first oficial run since March 14th, so 6 weeks off technically. On March 24th I ran  21 mins inside home, but I think cant count that as a run, becuase you really cant get into a velocity, and the injury risk high. I decided not to do it again and face reality. Which was to wait until we are allowed to run outside again. I did not exercise at all, and gain a few pounds, I am still feeling Good and all my meals were technically home made and very healthy, so I know I am healthy. This is my longest break in my 17 years of running, I remember that I had rested 3-4 weeks due to shin splint issues several years ago, but never I had rested 6 weeks. I really dont know how my body is to respond to my first run back, but I ll do 6 laps in the Blasco park and see how it feels, but the plan is not to do less than that.

The schedules for running are 6-10 a.m and 08:00-11:00 p.m., so on weekends I Will run in the morning and on weekdays I Will run probably in the evening after work, you can really exercise once according to the autorithies, but I am not sure about that. I think you can exercise and then go for a walk in the evening Schedule. Anyways, I am very happy to be back to the sport that I love and the hobby that I often do. I dont go out much, but taking away the running from me was a red flag for me.

Hope you are able to run and stay healthy!

The lock down continues....

I have been not posting, because I have not been running. Rules here in Spain are strict enough that you cannot do any activity outdoors. I have 4 weeks without doing a proper run. Anyways, no races in the near future so there it Will be time to get back into shape. I should be back to indoors running, but I did not like it to be honest, and probably you are risking an injury innecesary. Anyways, I have not done any exercise , not even my daily Walk to the office, because I am working from home. I hope all improves and this damn sickness goes away, so that everybody can go on if their normal lives. But here is the question, there Will be a normal life after all of this? probably there Will be rules that Will have to follow…

Keep exercising and keep your attitude positive, I Will try to do the same! I am not even watching at the news to try keeping my attitude strong and positive, after all news sales are due to the negative information, not the positives, so why would they promote positive things?

Take care folks!!
