Shaking out

Yesterday I did my bread and butter route without a watch and felt really good  and strong. Kept the effort easy and just complete the distance at the same effort throughout. I would say  I did  35 mins something. The run was at 12:30p.m. and wore my gloves and my hat.

Today I did the same route, but decided to keep the effort even easier than yesterday, but felt very heavy. The run was done pretty much at the same time as yesterday, I d rather to run earlier, but the breakfast in this holidays is being served at 9 a.m. and I need a bit of time to digest. I felt really heavy today. First half was in 17:34, so slow, but I did not do anything to speed up.

Then loosened up a bit in the second half and came to Guadalupe in 34:29, then did the extra meters that I always do and finished in 36:29. This is the slowest time that I have run in this route, when I do measure it.

I wont run till race day, but I have been told that too many people run in that race and probably the race first km will be very slow, if that happens then then I will just do the race for fun.

Tomorrow I travel to Valencia to visit my brother and hopefully We will have fun there and in the race.

Have a great Thursday and since I wont have Access to a computer to post, then happy new year as well!! I ll be back on Tuesday!

Zapping the zero

Yesterday went out to run at 6: 00 p.m. already dark these days and with a cold weather, the feel was 0 degrees, I wore my gloves and hat, but was very cold in the nose and in the breathing, I felt that I never warmed up and the halfway Split reflected that. I did the same route getting to the halfway in 17:37, then on the way back I did 6 x 20 second strides and could make up a lot of time getting back to Guadalupe in 33:50. Then in the couple of mins I do extra , did a 7th 25 sec stride. Finishing in  35:50 total time, basically the same time as Sunday.

I felt good on the strides, but felt cold . I am somewhat heavy because I am eating like a pig, We will see how the race in Valencia goes on Saturday. I have not decided one hundred percent to run, but its a 5.3k race and I will do it with my brother or will race against him.

I ll run in a few mins, so stay tuned for my second post of the day.

Merry Christmas

Saturday I ran at 10:00a .m. without a watch, kept the effort easy, because I felt breakfast in my stomach still. I hurried up with my run because I left the residence before 12 p.m. We were going to watch the football game between Real Madrid and Barca, the barca won. We end up watching the game in an irish pub close to the stadium. I downed a few beers there and had a good time with my mates.

I did the same route and kept the effort easy, but felt full. 35-36 mins total time.

Today I ran at 5:20 p.m or so but again I had stomach problems, felt full for basically 80% of the run. First half in 17:00, back to Guadalupe in 33:51, then completed my route finishing in 35:50. Felt good at the end, but again not finishing digestión.

5 runs this week and a good week of running.

Merry Christmas to everyone!

On Vacation

Yesterday I took the day off, as I was doing homework for my last class of 2017. I am on Vacation till January 8th, that is  the day that I get back to the master. In the meantime, I ll stay here in the residence and on December 29th I ll go to Valencia to visit and to celebrate the new year with my brother and his GF.

Today I ran at 11:00 a.m., I  ran without a watch and kept the effort easy. Did the same route as always, but as I said I will mix things a bit and will explore new routes.

Felt good and easy. Around 35-36 mins. Wore my gloves and hat for the 7 degrees celcius.

Have a great Friday!

Happy Humpday!

Yesterday was off, because  I was studying for classes.

Today headed out the door at 11:45 a.m. or so, did the same route, halfway in 16:59 although thought that I was going slower because I was not feeling very good. Then after the 31 min mark I started to push the pace till the end of the run, got here to Guadalupe in 33:03, then the last 350-400s were fast were in 1:32 to finish the total run in 34:35.

I felt tired at the end, but I really pushed the pace in the last 2.5 mins of the run. I was surprised to see mid 34s. I wanted to push the pace a bit today because tomorrow I ll rest again before taking christmas vacations and the master resume in January 8th. So on vacation will keep running but will get back to the gym.

Happy humpday everyone!

Zapping the zero

Today I ran at 10:30 a.m. so that I can get my run out of the way, because I have some homework to do and have classes in the evening.

Did the same route getting to the halfway point in 17:09 and getting back to Guadalupe in 33:33, then did the 200m extra and finished my run in 35:29. To this date I have no idea of the distance that I run, I am just running by time and effort.

However, I will have to change my route so that I can explore a Little bit more of Madrid. I am a creature of habit as you can see, but I have to get out of my confort zone and explore new routes.

Have a great Monday!

Salvaging what could have turned in to a disaster week

Today I ran at  6 something pm. I wore my gloves, watch and hat. Did my normal route, got out at an easy pace, but I picked up the pace a couple of times during the run. I got to the halfway point in 17:04 or so, then did around 1 min pick up when I had around 22 mins.I got to Guadalupe in 33:13, then ran the bit more and finish my bread and butter route in 35:11.

I felt really good and feel that I did not lose any fitness in this week. This week I ran 3 times, but as I said yesterday I was somewhat busy, but next 3-4 weeks will be very consistent because I ll be on vacation mode, I ll resume my gym training also.

Happy to have run once again, running makes me feel alive.

Have a great Sunday!

Catching up

On Tuesday I ran at 10 a.m.  I did the same route , crossed the half in 16:51, back in 33:20, then ran the almost 200m that I always do after I get to Guadalupe, finished in 35:17.

On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday I did not run due to an exam an homeworks, although I did not wake up early to run so that are not valid excuses, but my focus was on the MBA.

Today I headed out to run at 6:15 p.m. and leave the watch at the residence, just ran easy and did my usual route. Felt really good and confortable. Glad to be back at it.

Have a great Saturday!

Capping off

Yesterday I ran at 6 p.m, I had been doing home work for the whole day basically and I was pretty stressed out mentally, so this run really served me well. I decided to run without  watch and run easy, my quads were sore, so wanted to take things easy.

Did my normal route and kept the effort easy. The day was very rainy and it was pouring lightly, but glad I got my run in.

5 runs this week and 1 gym session.

Today I rested. My right ankle was bothering me in the last few runs at the beginning. Have a great start to the week!

A couple of runs

On Thursday I rest and went to the gym instead.

Did bíceps and Back with lower weight tan in previous sessions to get back into the swings of things.

Deadlift:  3 sets of 6 reps with 50 kgs.

Barbell row: 3 sets of 6 reps with 36 kgs. Felt good on these and with good form.

Pull Ups: Did 2.5 reps in the first set, then did 2 sets of 1 rep. I think I improved on this exercise despite the 2 weeks off.

EZ Bíceps curls: 1 sets with 12 kgs, then did 2 sets with 14 kgs x 8 repeats.

Alternate Dumbell curls: 1st set tried 10kgs, did 4 reps with my right bíceps, but 3 with the left, then decreased weight to 8kgs, did 8 repeats for the next 2 sets.

Felt good. but I had not come back to the gym to do my tríceps/chest and legs/shoulders. Tomorrow and next week I think I wont be consistent because I have exams and Works in the master, but the running will remain consistent.

Yesterday I was very sore and went out at 6 p.m. to run very easy my bread and butter route, first half was in 17:21, at that time I realized how tired I was, then back to Guadalupe in 34:06, then completed a couple of more mins to do 36:13 total time.

Today I was lazy the whole day and ran again past 6 p.m., today I did not feel so tired so I decided after the 7 min mark or so to push the pace a bit, got to the halfway in 15:42, my fastest halfway ever, then continued with that effort till the 19:06 before decreasing the pace because I was feeling tired and did not want to turn this into a race. Continued easy to Guadalupe, got here in 31:56, then completed the last couple of hundred meteres that I normally do and finish up the run in 33:44, so a couple of mins faster than my normal run, not too shaby.

I would like to know my splits, but this is not measured and I only go by effort. Anyway, effort is what really matters at the end.

Have a great Saturday!

Catching up

On Monday I ran the same route and ran at around 12:30 p.m. total time was 35:30. I felt so so on this run, I felt good at times, but felt tired at other times, but I got it done.

Yesterday was off.

Today I procrastinated the run till 6 p.m. and the original plan was to run at 11:00 a.m. I just lie in my bed watching videos and on the internet, so did not want to waste all my day so at 6 p.m. I decided to get my run in.

I did the my 35 mins bread and butter route, but this time I did not wear watch, wore my gloves and hat, because lately the weather has been too cold, so most of my runs from now on will be with gloves on. Today I did it a bit faster than normal, I put a bit more effort than easy, but it was not a hard run by any means. Felt good and relaxed, it was good to run with the sun down. Dont know the total time since I was not wearing a watch, but maybe 34 mins something.

Oh I forgot to mention that today`s is a public holiday here so thats why I run at that time that I am normally at clases.

Have a great Wednesday!

Back to the running scene

I had to take 1 week  off, due to a strong flu that I got  on Monday, my policy for the last few years is not to run when you are sick, and I decided to take a week off, because the weather here has been cold, and I did not want to get the sickness backwards.

Luckily I was back at it today. I did not go to the gym either, only to clases.

Today at 12:35 p.m. I put my clothes on and I was ready to go. I did the same route as always, got to the turn around point in 17:09, then got back to Guadalupe in 33:43, then completed 35:42 mins.  I felt good, but the run felt long mentally, but I felt good once I warmed up, it seems that I did not lose any fitness in this week off.

I hope not to take more breaks unless I get sick, the policy will be 5 runs per week, 35 mins + for the day. Only 1 run this week due to the sickness.

This upcoming week I will run 5 times and will get back to the gym as well. That run felt really good and I am happy to have came back to the running scene.

Have a great Sunday!
