Last run of 2014

Did not run on Monday and Tuesday, but went to the gym yesterday to hit Biceps and back. Anyway I ll have to run for the rest of the week to accomplish my 5 times per week of running.

This evening I headed out with Danilo at 6;05 p.m. to the conservatory and We could run inside the park but not the regular lap since there was an area that was closed. We ran there till the 39 mins, then We kind of " raced" the last 1.2k( from the conservatory to home), He built a gap on me of about 30 meters, with around 300s to go I could bridge the gap and  outsprinted him, but with around 30m to go He outsprinted me back, it was fun. and I had to walk for several minutes to catch my breath back. I just reflected that going to the gym is fun, but the endorphins you get trough running are much higher and I really love the feeling running gives me, but I am starting to like weight lifting too. But I always ll be a runner.

5:59 for the last 1.2k, 44:59 total. A great run to end the year.

Fun evening running with the brother

Today I skipped the run in the morning since when I woke up the sun was shining pretty hard and was not very motivated , but had in mind to run in the evening and that was what I did, I convinced my brother to run with me since He did not feel like running because He did squats and the legs are very SORE, He said ouch! when He stands up or sit down.

Anyway! We got to the conservatory at 5:20 p.m. in 7:41, then did 4 laps outside the conservatory in 7:44,7:41,7:36, then He kind of sped up and I responded, 3rd lap in 7:10, then headed back home and I did that 1.2k in 6:06 , I outsprinted my brother, weird thing but He said that He could not run any faster due to the squats soreness!! I enjoyed this run, felt really good and peacefully after the run. The weather was great also, the only problem was the overcrowd entering and getting out the conservatory.

Total time was 44:01, I feel confident becuase in the week off I did not lose any fitness at all, I just need to keep running consistently and the times should come down. Next year is going to be good runingwise for me!!

1 week off

Well after the race I jsut very sore, I have read several times that after a goal race you have to rest 1 week of no running, I did just that but that was not on purpose, in fact my plan was to continue the training normally, but the very sore legs and the inability to wake up early to run got me, no excuses, I was back at it early this morning. At 5:30 a.m. I woke up and was out to the conservatory and did 4 easy laps in 6:34,6:22,6:15,6:14 to finish the 6.6k or so in 41:06. A bit slow but I am pretty happy to get back at it.

Another thing is that I started going to the gym on Tuesday, went yesterday and going again tomorrow morning, so the running and 3 times per week of gym work, should improve my weight and my figure :) I felt really good in today's and enjoyed it a lot.

Strength training is good, but I just love to run and could never replace running with weight training, running is just special and much more difficult mentally, thus more satisfing when you accomplish your goals. Anyways, a combination of the 2 will get me in pretty good shape.

24:01

Twenty four oh freakingg oneee!! that was my time in today´s Christmas 5k. To be honest I wanted to run sub 24 mins, but I thought that I would do that at the drop of a hat!! just did not happen and I ended up missing my goal, anyway,, I ran watchless and just raced and ran by effort, I let it out every onze of energy that I had for the day. According to the results I did the first half much faster than the first, 11:29 the first half and 12:32 the second half.

I was in a good position in the halfway, but then when I turned around , people starting passing me right and left and I could not do anything about it. I tried to run with a woman but She dropped me little by little, the last 600s were a struggle. My friend Jose that was cheering , gave me words of encouragement but I just very spent, I just could maintain the position in the home stretch, I could not move any faster, I gave my by effort and I am satisfied with that. I need to train much harder if I want to see the times going down.

At least I improved my time of last 5k by 43 seconds which is a step in the right direction. I need to keep training consistently and I am confident that the times will go down. Its good to race watchless since you only race and dont worry about going too fast or too slow, you just run and thats it!!

Shaking out

Wednesday and Thursday were off, just could not run at night those days.

Today I just wanted to run very easy because I am racing the christmas 5k tomorrow.  I went out to the conservatory at 7:30 p.m. and did 3 laps outside the conservatory and back home in 39:17. The pace was very slow, just getting the blood flow. The weather was awesome and the conservatory was just crowded today because of the " LIGHTS PARK".  No big deal I just was cruising easy.

Watchless meditation run

Yesterday I took the day off as usual.

Today I got home earlier than usual so I went to my run earlier than usual also. At 6:45 p.m. I headed out to the conservatory watchless, and I ran 4 laps outside conservatory at an easy pace and I honestly can say that I felt really good. But honestly I have to say that I have not feeling very well since yesterday for reasons that I dont want to discuss in this blog, this is only for running blogging only :) The whole run was basically thinking about that and meditating about life in general, I need that run to be honest. so around almost 8k watchless.

The weather was awesome and I felt really good physically.

Capping off the week

Today I woke up a bit later than planned, was up at 7:30 a.m. after a long night in the club, drank a lot of soda and I thought that I was going to feel good in the run. As soon as I started up, I felt like shit and was pissed off because I did 6 laps in the conservatory very slow and feeling like crap( thats why I race without a watch) laps were in 6:24,6:18,6:14,6:09,6:10,6:01, then back home to finish the 8.5k in 52:30, first  half in 26:58, second half in 25:32 or so. Definetely happy to have run, but pissed off because of the way I felt according to the splits. At this point I should be running a lot faster with much less effort. I ll race on Saturday Christmas 5k, I have not done any speed work, but will run my best. I hope to do sub 24 mins which is mediocre to my oldself, but faster than my last race, I should improve a lot by next year, if I mantain this consistency of course.

5 runs again this week, but runs generally short. No more complaints!!:) Have a great evening!!

Predawn run

Today woke up really early at 5:15 a.m. and was out at 6:00 a.m. to the mirador and did 8k, the first lap was 24:19, second half in 22:08, the last 3k were in 16:16. Felt better in the second half and very loose, the first lap was like waking up from sleeping, all in all happy that I have run in the morning since in the afternoon/evening I was going to be in the swimming pool and could not run in the evening, so predawn it was. I did 8k in 46:27, closed really fast and the weather was pretty good.

I am training consistently but despite of that, people keep telling that I am fat or getting fatter, I dont have an idea right now of my actual weight, but maybe I have not decreased weight a lot.

Very crowded night run

After work today I headed out to the conservatory at 7:05 p.m. and did 4 laps outside the conservatory at an easy pace, I did not surge or accelerate today, I just wanted to take it easy. I got to the conservatory in 7:54, then did 4 laps outside in 8:03,7:52,7:45,7:38. Then did 7 mins flat to finish in 46:13. I felt really confortable and good. But the park was very crowded and I pissed off a couple of times since I had to dodge a lot of people and cars, especially in the first 3 laps. However, I am glad that I can run consistently. Weather was just fine!

The running continues

Yesterday took the day off due to the finances course in the evening. Today after work I got dressed and I headed to the conservatory and did the 4 old laps that I have been doing outside of the conservatory. I felt really good today and finished pretty hard, the hardes that I have run in a while.

Got there in 7:43, then did 4 laps in 7:48,7:35,7:25,7:13, then increaded the effort a bit and in the last 300s I really increaded effort and finished the run in 43:31, from the conservatory to home did 5:44, much faster than the last 6:09 I did on Tuesday.The first half was in 23:07, the second half in 20:24 a lot faster.

I am running good and pretty much consistently but I am just doing almost all my runs pregressive and that would take me in no man´s land since I am not taxing the body as if I were doing workouts, anyway, its good to play with the watch a little bit, but its easy to get caught into that!! The weather was great and the park was very crowded, I had to dodge people and cars several times.

Zapping the zero

Yesterday I took the day off, I was a bit sore in the calf from Sunday in the swimming pool.

Today I went out to the conservatory after work (7:05 p.m.) and did 4 laps outside the conservatory in 7:51,7:40,7:36,7:20, then from the conservatory I run a bit harder in 6:09, the last 300-400s were fast. I felt really good in the second half, not so good in the first half. first half was 23:22, second half was in 21:10. The weather was awesome and I finished the run in 44:32. I have been running 5 times per week consistently and feeling better and better, anyway I dont have time to prepare well for the 5k on 20th, but definetely next year I ll be in very good shape.

Cutting the run short

This morning slept in a bit more and headed out to the conservatory at almost 9:00 a.m. I was planning to do 8.5k, the first 2 laps were difficult as I was very tight and the outside area of the calved were bothering so much, then it kind of loosened up and started to feel a lot better, then the right sock get down a lot so my achilles were brushing with the shoe, felt totally unconfortable, after the 3rd lap I tried to fix it, but then started bothering right away, so I decided to cut it short and get home. I would rather to cut the run short instead of hurting my achilles with a huge blister and has to stop my training for days, I think it was a good decision. Total time was 34:39, I was pissed off because I was starting to feel so much better and loose, anyway! Always happy that I can run!!

Early morning run with father

I am off from work today and I headed out to the conservatory at 7:15 a.m. with my father, so 12 hours after my last run. I was tired from yesterday, but felt strong and good nonetheless. I did 6 laps inside the conservatory, normal laps since the conservatory as I have said is repaired again, but since I am running at night is not possible to run inside due to the crowd that its in there at night, now that is up the LIGHTS PARK.  the laps were 6:08,6:02,6:00,5:55,5:52,5:48.Then jogged easy for around 2 mins to wait for my father so We could got home together, I encouraged him a lot since He was tired , but with 200s to go I just sprinted all out , and did not feel that fat. I felt somewhat smooth and felt like I have hope lol! I am confident that I ll get back to the shape that I was, its a matter of time.

8.5k total in 49:59 (26;00,23:59).

Tonight I ll watch a night 5-10k race in the mirador at 8:05 p.m. In 2 weeks I ll have mine. Anyway, the plans are long term and I dont want to rush things, I want to be in great shape  next year.

Great night run

So today after work and getting home at 7:13 p.m. I got changed and headed out to the conservatory at 7:25 p.m. which is a bit late for me and did 4 laps outside of the conservatory, but this time I knew that I was going to have a great run, I felt very strong from the get go.  I got to the conservatory in 7:35, then did 4 laps outside the conservatory in 7:33,7:18,7:12,6:40, I crushed yesterday's time for more than 2 mins. I did 43:16 today jogging the last 1.2k, I felt strong the whole way and very good. The weather cooperated also. The park is getting more crowded since there were more people getting in and out the park, I had to dodge a few people there. I definetly am getting in good shape.

Progressive run

Yesterday the course was suspended and I thought about running, but something was being repaired in the bank so I had to stay there till 9:10 p.m. so no running.

Today I ran in the evening at 7:15 p.m., I could leave work earlier than yesterday, anyway today I ´.-was committed to run at 10 pm if that were the time that I would get here. So I headed out the conservatory in 7:52, then did 4  laps outside the conservatory as lately with splits: 7:59,7:40,7:34,7:16, felt very tight in the first 15-20 mins, then loosened it up and then felt pretty good and smooth, got home in 45:21. halfway in 23:34 or so, so a huge negative split.

I am glad about how my training is going, I have been very consistent in the last weeks but I need to ramp up the mileage and do a longer run, anyway I am very happy to run . The weather was pretty good the only problem was the rain before the run, that makes me feel like sh###$t in the first third of the run.

Zero zapper

As I said in my last post I rested yeseterday.

Today I just woke up early but because I had to be at 7:30 a.m. at work, I could not run in the morning, but luckily in the evening at 7:05 p.m. I was out to the conservatory to do 4 laps outside the conservatory watchless, becasue my brother was using my watch again, no biggies!! I just cruised and felt pretty good after the first 15 mins, I think I did around 45 mins total, with negative split, because the pace was faster for sure in the second half. The weather was very good, and could have my way there since the " lights park" is not that crowded just yet, but in the next few days I expect it to fill much more, so predawn running is the best option.

Another thing is that I have been running 5 times per week for the past 6 weeks or so, people say to me that I am getting fat or " are you fatter" or " are you getting fat" all that kind of stop, it seems that I am eating more than I should, but at least I am feeling better and better on runs.

Catching up

I managed to run on the weekend, I could run through the flu, that is good since in the past when I was sick I would skip the run, but since this time around the symptons were above the shoulders, the running did not cause any problem.

On Saturday evening I went to the conservatory and did 4 laps outside the conservatory and took the splits 7:53,7:44,7:40,7:38. I felt full in the stomach in the first couple of laps, then felt great and finished the run in 45:35, negative split for more than a minute.

On Sunday  at 5:45 p.m. I headed out to the conservatory to do the exact route as the day before, this time it was watchless since my brother was using my watch. Felt good and better as the run went by,

The weather is fresh and I am looking forward to every run.

Today I took the day off and will continue at it tomorrow, I ll have to run in the predawn most of the time since the park that I run in, will be very busy at night with a lot of people visiting the "lights park".

5 days a week of running once again, I really like the consistency in the past 6 weeks, the weight has not come down but I can feel the running improving.

In regards to my brother´s race on Friday, He did decent,He finished 12th overall, the guys that won simply are running sub 20 mins, and my brother is not in that kind of shape recently, but I applaud his effort and it was a fun race to watch.

The flu run

I am off from work today I headed early in the morning( not so early) at 7:45 a.m. to the conservatory, I was told that it was going to be closed till Monday when is ignagurated" the lights park" a beautiful place with a lot of lights, the downside is that the traffic after 6 p.m. is terrible due to that and its going to last till January, that would interfere with my night runs too, maybe I ll have to switch to predawn runs!

I did today the same thing as last night, 4 laps outside the conservatory watchless again. I felt a bit tired today because as I mentioned I do have the flu and I am battling against it, luckily its above the shoulder and I can run fine, hope that I can run in the weekend. Around 7.2-7.3k total.

This afternoon the company my brother works for is doing a 5k race, My father and I think that He can get top 3, both of us have permission to go waching him race and encourage. I wish him pretty good luck  I know that He ll do just fine.

getting most out of opportunities

Yesterday I rested because I did not wake up early, and at night did have classes.

This evening after work I almost bag the run, but the will to train harder and get out there won, so I headed out around 7:20 p.m. to the conservatory to find that it was closed, so I had to do laps outside the conservatory which significantly longer, I did 4 laps and headed back home. Today I ditched the watch and ran easy, I am getting the flu and I am caughing a lot, but the legs just felt fresh and tired less during the run. Glad that I did go out, around 7.2-7.3k. Zapping the zero

Yesterday was my day off.

This evening at 6:30 p.m. I went out to the conservatory and did 4 laps there and stopped there to talk and watch the women dancing there. When I started I felt slow and not so good, even started with a headache becasue the flu is about getting me, I did the first lap in 10:08, saw that was not my day, then started to loosen up and did 9:44 and felt better, on the third things started to improve even more to do 9:22, then decided to push the last lap thats when I met Jose and He basically ran the whole lap with my at that pace, I dropped him in the last downhill where I speed up a lot, did 7:59 and I was looking to go sub 8 mins. I am getting stronger and stronger and feeling a lot better. To be honest the diet has not improved much, but at least I am being pretty consistent. Did 45:25 and finished feeling good and headache-free. Have a great night everyone!

Finishing up the week in a good note

Today I ran a bit later than planned, ran at 9:30 .a.m. or so, I honestly was very tired from yesterday´s evening run, I was smart and decided to ditch the watch today and just log the miles in. I went out to the conservatory and did the exact route as the past two days, that is getting old and I ll need to find new routes. Felt tight and sluggish for the first half of the run, then kind of loosened it up and felt decent, although the sun was pretty hot and strong, well, you got to brave the elements if you want to succeed in life. 5 runs this week and feeling stronger, the ideal would be 6 days of running, but 5 is good too. Maybe I did around 45 mins today.

Another rainy day

Today I ran in the evening once again, I like the silence of the conservatory of Saturday´s evening. Anyway, running in the afternoon its not something that I ll always do when I ramp up my training, but I am enjoying my runs a lot no matter if they in the evening or early morning.

Today  at 6:30 p.m.I did the exact route as yesterday in 44:08. After 20 mins I felt low on energy, but then after the 35 mins I felt really good again, finishing the run feeling really good. I did not close hard because tomorrow I want to match my brother 's last km in around 4 min of his time trial, last Sunday I could not even do 4:10, I was on my way to it but gave in in the last 150s where I slowed to a jog. Felt good today and the running is going good, feeling stronger and stronger!

Catching up

I did not run on Wednesday due to sleeping in, but I made a commitment to run at least 5 times per week and I have following that to a T for last month +.

Yesterday I went out running at night at 7:00 p.m. got to the conservatory and met Jose there We ran for 22 mins, and He kept my pace easily, after that He stopped due to a side stitch, I continued to finish my run in 46:27. Did 4 laps to the lap that I do when the conservatory has closed areas. laps were in 9:50s and got down to 9:21 in the last one. Felt really good and feeling stronger each time.

Today I was off from work and after a hard rain a got out to do my run did 3 laps there and got home in 44:21. Felt really strong and felt really good, the weather was pretty good also. The only unconfortable were the paddles in the streets that I had to dodge at times. Have a great Friday everyone!!

Nice start to the week

Yesterday was my day off.

Today I went out running before 7 p.m. I just left work earlier today,  ran sans watch again and did 3 laps and ran some more, I think I ran around 45 mins, felt really good there and increased effort sometimes. I am feeling stronger! those are good news!! when I was walking there post run I met a good friend, came home and have dinner with my brother too! Good times!! Weather is cool! I dont feel that drawning heat !!

Catching up

I missed Tuesday and Wednesday´s training. Tuesday decided to rest and Wednesday slept in and could not go at night because I had the Finances course. I need to make up both days, so I ran all of the remaining dasys of the week.

Thursday when I got from work headed to the conservatory and did 46:15 easy.

Friday did the same thing and ran 44:51, that day I worked a lot and got home late than planned,headed out that day at 7:25 p.m.

Saturday Headed out in the afternoon just before 6 p.m. did the same route as Friday feeling like a million of bucks, did 43:43.

Sunday morning headed out with father and brother at 7:30 a.m. to the mirador, did 9k total and did 1k with my brother at a fast pace I encouraged him to finish his time trial, He wanted to stop but I think I avoided that, He left me in the dust in the last 150m, I was just huffing and puffing, He did 4:10 in that km and I did around 4:30, jogging the last 150m. Completed the 9k total.

I finished up the week on a good note, I think I have 1 month running 5 times per week, which is good, I would rather train 6 days per week, but 5 times per week is just decent compared to the inconsistency I have been carrying in the last years/months. I will continue like that and I hopefully will get fit and lean.

Catching up

Saturday I went out running in the evening, poured pretty hard and I got soaked to the bone, for me that was a refreshing feeling, had the opportunity to run with another guy for 10-15 mins, He had a great pace and is training for a half marathon that is held on November 23 th, I encourage him, I had to work a bit to keep his pace, his name is Frank and I would like to run with him again and race with him. I did 48:42 total , finishing there in the conservatory. I just ran corner to corner for more than 3 laps. Then I went out with my brother and my friend Hugo to eat a burguer and then to drink a few beers at Hooters, very nice place with a very good vibe there, I really like it, I over eat that day ha, after eating the burgers at Wendys, We had the beers there, but I also orderer a couple of serving of ckicken strips., a very good note to end the day.

Sunday I went out early with my father to the conservatory, my legs were fried from the get go and I only got to run 38:46, sprinting in the last 100-200s. Capped off another week with 5 days of running, Consistency is coming back.

Monday was a public holiday here so that meant an early morning run with my father, We headed out to the mirador and I was going to do 10k, but then cut it short due to feeling tight and tired from the get go once again, 8k in 46:30, with last 3k in 16:09, again sprinting the last 200s. A lot of work to do!!

Evening run

This morning slept in once again, but as long as I am runnnig I am fine, so when I got back home from work I just dressed quick and headed out to the conservatory and did 3 laps corner to corner in less than 10 mins each lap, then finished there the 45 mins. Felt tired today, I worked a lot and hurried up a lot to get home early, but got later than planned though, that is the downside of evening running, life could get in the way too easily, as a result missing the run. All in all glad that I ran today.

Raining evening watchless run

Yesterday I hated myself all day because I stayed in bed and did not run.

This evening after work I was committed to run no matter what, I cant run less than 5 times per week if I want to have an acceptable performance on December, the most important thing for me is to keep the consistency going beyond that time frime and tackle to improve my times next year.  Just before 6 a.m. I went out to the conservatory to do my 3 laps corner to corner, as I have said this route is only when areas of the conservatory are closed due to preparing the park for christmas activities, I got out there watchless at a good clip and when I was there, started raining steady and the conservatory got empty, is amazing how poeple are afraid of rain, mainly women, maybe its the hair or somthing, but We were only around 5 people running and / walking , other poeple were gone or covered below a roof. anyway I felt good overall, but had stomach problems. Its incredible how running cleans ones mind, I am new and ready to keep rolling, but I ll save that for tomorrow morning that I ll run again, around 45 mins total, no watch.

Catching up

 I have been running regularly, but because I have internet problems I am not being able to post.

Wednesday-off

Thursday morning did 3 laps corner to corner in the conservatory watchless.

Friday morning did the same  with my father, but threw 1:52 in the last 500s. total 44:50.

Saturday, did the same but my father beat this time, did 44:10

Sunday I ran a 10k watchless in the mirador, felt tired and that seemed like a marathon.

Monday took the day off

Today was off from work so I went out running at 8 a.m. ran watchless again, and in the first 15 mins felt very tight and fat but then loosened up and felt great. around 45 mins total

The consistency has improved dramatically and I am feeling fitter except when I started this morning when I felt hopeless, luckily that improved dramatically after 20 mins.  Have a great night everyone!

Fun night run

Yesterday took the day off, went to bed too late on Sunday.

This evening after work, I headed out to the conservatory and did the 3 laps that I have been doing in 10:06,9:36,9:48, then the last 7 mins of the run really pushed the pace really hard effortwise, I probably did did a mile in 7:15, dont know for sure, but the effort was there, finish the run in 45 mins. Then stayed there looking for the menu, ha!! if you know what I mean! beautiful women there!:)its inspiring to see a lot of people exercising and doing something for their help, that push me to train harder and never quit exercising (running in my case), that makes me a better and happier person without a doubt. Tonight I was very greatful that I can run and exercise, not a lot of people can! Have a great night folks!! I do have scheduled a predawn run for tomorrow since I wont be able to run at night due to the finance course, I am training for a 5k, so I CANT sleep in!! Cheers!

Morning 8k with family

This morning woke before 7 a.m., I went out to the mirador with my father and brother to do 8k, my brother was doing 10 x hill repeats, He has a corporate event that He expects to win. My father and I did 5.2k , then waited form him to finish the repeats and encouraged him, then when He was done We ran home to complete my 8k. I wan watchless since He was using my watch, I felt weak at the beginning, then kind of loosened it up. A good week of training, I ll keep like this, I did not eat fried food this week, so I am heading the right direction with one of my goals.  8k to cap the week.

Catch up

Yesterday I ran early in the morning at 6:00 a.m., did the route that I did on Tuesday, I did it in 44:45, felt good overall, but I am feeling really tired these days due to the out of form state, well everything was going fine, but I was feeling terrible at work the whole day, when I got home at 7:00 p.m. I just lied in bed and fell asleep till today morning, I was feeling good today, but decided to take the day off from running out of caution, if I was sick, then a run would not have been wise. As I type this I am feeling pretty good and I ll continue my training tomorrow, 5 days a week of running is not bad, the consistency is coming back. Hopefully I ll keep feeling better and better.

Morning run with father and setting goals

This morning woke up at 7:30 a.m, since I am off from work, Headed out to the conservatory to do the 3 laps route that I do when areas of the conservatory are closed. When I started I felt tired, I think the return was going to be easy, but its not gonna be, I ll have to sweat a lot to get there. Anyway, I ran 47 mins total, got to the conservatory with my father and waited for him from the conservatory to home. I felt tired as I said,hope that improves in the next few days. The weather was very hot, but I am glad I got out there!

I wrote down 4 goals for the remaining of the year:

1) Give up the fried chicken and fried food till December.
2)Lose 10-20 pounds as a result( that might take a little longer than December)
3)Train hard, smart and consistently
4) Get a better position in the work force.

These are the 4 goals that I wrote in a paper sheet and is next to my bed,so when I get weak, I look at it and the motivation comes back.

Heading the right direction

Woke up really early today at 5:30 a.m., went out to the conservatory at 6:00 a.m. and headed out to the conservatory to do the same route as yesterday evening. Soon when I started the run I realized that I was tired, so I just did 2.5 laps of yesterday´s route and that took me 38;51, dont know the exact distance, but I am glad that I headed out the door to run, you never regret a run. Need to keep up this momentum!!

Catching up

My plan did not work out the way I wanted to last week, because I wanted to run after work on Thursday and Friday, but that did not work, left work way too late!!I ran on Sunday in the morning with the brother and father, I threw a couple of surges there, but my form is sloppy and I am ridiculous fat, I weigh around 192 pounds, with is too much compared to my PRs time( 150 pounds), I have decided and wrote it down to cut the junk till December and train hard and smart and see if that can help my weight. I did on Sunday 37 mins for around 6.2k or so, the last 500s was in 2:02, my brother ran 1:23, He left in the dust, wow, anyway, a lot of work to do. My mindset changed from Yesterday, looked at me in a photo of 2009 and then looked in the mirror, with the face like a watermelon, I said that I neeeded to change that, if I want to become a coach some day I need to use myself as a guinea pig in the experiment, I need to get in shape and be an example. Maybe I wont do 21 mins on December in the 5k, but I ll take care of give my best and if I dont get that goal this year, at the beginning of next year you can do it.

Yesterday did not run due to the inhability of running in the predawn, had my finances course at nigh.

Today after work I headed to the conservatory without a watch and did 3 times the loop that I ran when areas of the conservatory are closed. Dont know the time but I felt good and the pace was easy.

Predawn running

The predawn running continues. Today I run at 6:00 a.m., when I started did not feel particulary good, but then I just got into a groove and the run was good. Like last year, the conservatory was closed in some areas, so I could not do a complete lap, but invented a route that took me around 43:33 mins today, Felt very good and satisfied at the end. As I type this I just got home from a Finances course, and now I am doing the loundry, no rest for the wicked man! Have a great night everyone!

Thoughts on life (and death)

First of all I want to thank god the opportunity be here once again, not everyone has the opportunity nor value the opportunity that god gives then. Why I say this?

On Sunday when I was having fun with my father and brother dancing and hearing to music outside  in a place called " la zona colonial", a lot of people gather together there. When the party was on, it seems that a guy fell down and collapsed, the 911 lasted too much to arrive, the guy was took  out of scene with the eyes open, We all thought that He was drunk or something like, that after a while I just went to the bathroom and saw that the 911 guys was getting the guy in the ambulance, well after around 30 mins, one of the singer gave the news that the guy had dead, therefore the event was suspended, We were like in shock man! You go out to celebrate life and you dont know if you are coming back home or are going to live the next moment, To suspend the event was the best decision because that shows respect for the family and the sould of the guy!

On Monday when I was at work I received the news that a guy that frecuent the bank and joked around with the employees there and joked a lot with me, I guy that I really liked, He was funny and respectful, plus We joked a lot with the female coworkers, the guy was dead on past Friday, I was in shock, more than the day before because He was a guy that We all met there in the bank, even other clients, that was bitter to swallow, I cant not believe that I ll not listen to his jokes anymore. Very Very sad.

So my conclusion is why people get obsessed with external posessions and forget the basics about life, dont get me wrong I dont want to be conformist here, but I just notice that people often strive to only improve economically and dont improve as a person and spiritually. Anyway, I am just greateful that I can run,smile , walk, live, breath, every single day. Try to be the best person I can, so if I die there wont be regrets!!!

Life can be taken in a second, but if you live the life full of joy, then it wont be regrets!!

Runningwise I did not run yesterday, but yesterday decided that I was running in the predawn today no matter what, was going to run today for my friend Floiran and the run was going to be dedicated to him. I went out today at 5:55 a.m. to the conservatory and got there in 7:50, then did 4 laps in 6:29,6:32,6:21, and in the last lap I was feeling so good and alive that I decided to increase the pace a bit, I almost scream in joy, I was just greateful to be able to run and to be alive, I got home in 39:36 for 6.5k, I loved this morning´s run since I had a lot of time without running predawn, I m looking for tomorrow´s predawn run. I just want to train hard because I can!!

Mad at myself

Had not run since Tuesday, I am getting home pretty late from work, and I am not running in the predawn so those days are DNRs. I am pretty upset with myself because I weighted myself yesterday and I had 192 pounds, one month ago I had 181 pounds, Man, I am eating a lot of food, and training very little, today I headed out at 10 a.m. to the conservatory to do my lately bread and butter run 6.5k, done in 39:58 feeling like shit the whole way. Good!! I only have 2 months till my goal race in December and I have taken advantage of time, I wont write anything so that I dont look like an idiot when I again do the same thing ( 2-4 days of running per week that wont take me anywhere). In my opinion to reach your potential you got to run minimum of 6 times per week. That when I ran all my PR´s. Need to start taking(writing in this case) less and taking massive action to accomplish my goals, not only in running but in other areas as well. At least I took action today and ll be satisfied runningwise until tomorrow!! Hope you have a great Sunday!

Catching up

On Sunday I did 6.5k in the afternoon, 4 laps in the conservatory in 38:20, felt really good there to be honest. Finished very strong. Monday rest, honestly did not have nothing to rest from, but I did not run because I went to bed too late and I had classes in the afternoon till 9:30 p.m.

Today  I am off from work, so I did 6.5k at 8:30 a.m. , 4 laps in the conservatory at a very slow pace in 39:38.  I felt slow today, but after the run felt really good. I need to ramp up the frecuency and the distance run, if I keep like this I ll just do sub 24 mins on December 5k and my goal is more ambitious than that. I ll start running 6 times per week and will start eating better, that is the only way that I can get into that goal.

Consistency on the go....

Today I went out running after work, at 6:55 p.m. to the conservatory to do the same route as yesterday, today was much cooler because the sun was absent, but it was hot nonetheless. Ran with a guy for 1+ lap, but then He stopped and I completed my last 2 laps by my own. Finished the 6.5k in 38:58. One second slower than yesterday, but was very consistent. Felt good at the end!! Good run

Did not run Monday or Tuesday, Monday was a planned rest, but yesterday I was going to run after work, but got home after 8 p.m.  so no run. Today I am off from work, so I went out at 7:55 a.m. to the conservatory, did 4 laps there witht the watch on time of day, did 38:57 for 6.5k. Honestly I thought that I was rolling faster, but what can you do? Felt good overall!! Have a great Humpday everyone!!

This morning I woke up at 5:45 a.m. to do my run, I was going to push it to the afternoon, but then changed my mind and took ACTION! Went out a alone to the conservatory and did 3 laps there for  a total of 33:24. A few seconds faster than yesterday evening. I am heading the right direction. Have a great day!

Night running

Yesterday got home late so I could not run. I ll have to switch my run to the predawns.

After work today I started running at 7:05 p.m. it was dark already and I just went to the conservatory with a great and refreshing wind, I did 3 laps there to finish the 5.5k in 33:32. Need to get ready for December, no time for messing around. Have a great night all!

Getting back to the groove

I have not run for the last 10 days so today I went out to run, the breaj was not planned,it was just low motivation, maybe I ll always struggling with motivation, but I set a goal for December and I need to get back to it. Today I also incorporated pull ups and pull ups, could not do 2 pull ups, but did 4 x 10 push ups, I need to increase my pull up repetition so that I can become significantly stronger. Did 4 laps today and stopped there to do the pull ups. Ran without a watch today so did not know the time, but I felt really good during the run. 5.5k total or so.

Tiring run

This morning at 7:50 a.m. I went out to the conservatory with the sun shining hard. I did 5 laps there feeling tired, it seems that yesterday´s run was phisiologically demanding for me, because I felt like crap today, I only did 7.5k in 45:50, much slower than yesterday. I really dont care about pace on these runs, but I just battle it out to get this one done, the heat was just strong. 6 runs this week, something that I had not done in a long time.  I need to do this for a lot of more time and I should see results, letss see how it goes!! Good Saturday run and random thoughts

Yesterday I took the day off, had not taken a day off this week so yesterday it was. This early morning I went out with my father at 6:00 a.m. to the mirador, I dropped him after the mile and I was moving at a good effort, put the watch on time of day and just finished the 8k in 45:13. Happened to be a half marathon time trial there in the park, I was encouraging runners as they passed by. I have came to the conclusion that running is a human sport, you gotta be humble in that sport because there will be people that willl be much faster than you, but not more of a runner than yourself, its not about speed its about admiring other's people effort and sacrifices. For me that is more surprising than the actual speed. My father finished in around 48+ mins. I felt good but felt faster than the actual speed, no biggies I  am heading the right direction. I cant imagine where I can get if I run 6 times per week for a lot of time consistently. In the past years ( 4-5) I have suffered what I could  name it as cumulative inconsistency, I have not stopped running altogether, but the lack of consistency made me fatter and much slower, plus it removed me the guts to train hard and move forward in life. I need to have the balls to keep training hard consistently, not only in running, but in other areas of life as well.  Ha!! What a big rambling folks! Have a great Saturday!

Morning run

And the running continues.... I am off from work today  so I ran at 8:00 a.m. with my sunglasses because the sun was shining hard.  I did 5 laps today for a total of 7.5k, in 44:13, I just put the watch on time of day and just cruise,,, ha,, honestly did not cruised, I was a bit tired because I only ran 13 hours ago.In the last lap I just incorporated 4 strides, felt abosulately slow on these, felt like a truck full of rocks, wow , a lot of work to do!! Anyway, I am training consistently and I am feeling better and better during runs, that is a positive things. Have a great everyone!! I am feeling better and better, gotta be in Great shape in December!

Slow after run work

Tuesday I ran after work once again and I did 4 laps, I thought that I was going faster than yesterday from the get go, but that was not the case. I started running with the watch on time of day so that the body can find its natural pace and I dont obsess with splits each lap, but I was surprised today to see the final time, too slow compared to how I felt. 39:27 in 6.5k. Anyway I got my run in and that is the most important, pace will come eventually. Have a great night!!

Catching up

Over the past week I lost my internet connection, it got repaired yesterday. So I am updating the last week of training.

Sunday- 5.5k in 32:49
 Monday- off
Tuesday- 5.5k in 33:11 after work
 Wednesday- 5.5 in 31:41 after work, I was just angry and ran faster because of it.
Thursday- 45 mins,  most of the run was with Iris, last lap was in 5:13. That girl makes me run harder, She is got a lot of talent.
Friday and Saturday- off
Sunday(today)- 6.5k in 39:17 feeling better and better as the run went by. So I made a promise and commit myself to quit fried chicken and start training seriosly again since I want to do 21 mins in a 5k on December. Stop the talking and start taking action!!

Catching up

Honestly there is no much to catch up. I only ran on Sunday afternoon, I did 5.5k in 32:35, feeling finally decent. and Today I felt decent as well , I did the same route in 33:16 at 8:50 a.m.. Catching up

Last time that I ran was a week ago and it was 5.5k in 34:46, then laste a whole week without running. I was back today after work and did the exact 5.5k in 35:01, very slow but at least I did something, the weekend was spent drinking a lot of beer and eating a lot of fatty food, that could be the reason that I felt so fat today during the run. In the first lap felt terrible stomachwise, then felt better but never great. I need to keep an eye in the weight I dont want to get to highs 180s anymore. I need to start training seriously again. There are a couple of good races that I want to do in October-November. Have a great night everyone!

shaking out in the predawn

Yesterday I did not run due to the inhability to wake up early and time constraints in the evening, since when I get off work I go to the mall so that I could register from the race. This morning I finally ran in the predawn at 6:20 a.m. after months without doing it. I did not have any choice today because if I ran in the afternoon it would be too close because the 5k is tomorrow morning, I did 3 laps there in 34:35. I felt really good but man the pace is too slow, I need to run faster, at least I am heading the right direction. I dont have goals for the race,just to give an honest effort, I am in pretty out of shape,I just want to motivate a friend and myself to train harder. Have a great night everyone!

Zero zapper

Yesterday did not run, when I was going to run the hard rain started so I bagged.

Today I ran after work at 7:00 p.m. and met Iris there, ran around 5 laps with her and 2 by my own, so 7 laps total, the laps were kinda slow, but I did not feel like speeding up either, even at times Iris was more confortable than me, maybe She can beat on Saturdays 5k, She is not sure of running it, I ll run it and that will serve me as motivation to start training hard and get decent again, I am in very bad shape.  I ran for 52:01  and stopped there in the conservatory! Tired run

This morning I was up early and was out alone at 8:00 a.m. to the conservatory, I wanted to do whatever what my body was capable of today, well! it was only capable of 3 laps at a slow pace, did 3 laps in 6:18,6:22,6:18 and I felt like if I speed up a bit I would crash and burn, oh well!! at least I got out there in a very cloudy( due to a storm coming) morning and get the job done. Did 5.5k in 34:00, felt out of energy all the way.

Afternoon Saturday run

No running on Thursday or Friday due to lazyness after work.

This afternoon I met Iris there( We had been together for lunch) and We ran together for 4 laps, We were clicking 5:40 laps, then I sped up to do a last lap in 5:10, I m in bad shape since I finished caughing and tired. I did 36:17 total, it was a good run and I felt really good. Good company!! Have a great night!

Catching up after the flu

Had not run since Thursday due to the flu beating me up over the weekend, I was back to the running thing today. I ran after going to the supermarket today after work around 6:45 p.m. I started my run to the conservatory and did 5 laps there, did several battles with a few guys, I think I won but when I was finishing the run I had one guy kicking my heels, and I was huffing and puffing, laps progressed from 6:30,6:10,5:47,5:19,5:04. I am in very bad shape but that can be improved. Glad that I ran today, good things happened there and before the run I was thinking on bagging the run, you never regret a run. Did around 6.3k in 36:51.

Catching up

Sunday and Monday did not run, just got lazy. Tuesday I did 35 mins in the conservatory at 7:00 p.m.  and did some pull ups. Today at 6:30 p.m. Did 5 laps and 300s and did 38:53. Ran with another runnner for a bit of more than 1 lap, good conversation about running. Its good to meet new people. Its good to be alive, and its good to have a hobby, life is amazing and We humans take a lot of things for granted. We worry for a lot of things that are important to some degree, but We do not worry about things that are TRULY important, such as health, love, etc.  Have a great night everyone!

Yesterday did not run. Today at 6:00 p.m. I went out  to the conservatory  and did 3 laps, wanted to do more but the stomach was not feeling happy so I cut the run short. I got out the there and did something and that is the most important thing. Did 3 laps  for a total of 5.5k in 34:18.

No running Monday and Tuesday, returned back yesterday and did 5.5k in 33:30 at 6:30 p.m. Today I did the same route as yesterday, which was 3 laps in the conservatory and did 33:24. At least I am doing something, honestly I was going to rest today becasue low motivation, but then motivate myself and dont regret that decision. Weather was hot even at night.

Best week runningwise in a while

This morning at 9:20 .a.m. I went out to the mirador to meet my friend Andres to run a bit, I did 30 mins on my own before He showed up. Then We did 2.5k in 13:38, the guy has good pace, then We did some pull ups there, then We did 13 more mins to finish, then stayed there talking with a fellow fast runner Urraca.  I was pretty tired, the sun was shining hard and the last 6 days of running maybe caught up to me, I dont remember the last time I ran 6 times in a week. I should do it every week if I want to flirt with my old PRs. Have a great Sunday!

The extra km

Yesterday could not run due to leaving work later than planned. This afternoon went out to the conservatory and did 6 laps there. The plan was to do 5 laps but decided to do the extra lap. Did 8.5k in 49:52. The pace is going down and the fitness is going up, I feel better and better. Hope to get in good shape for the autumm races. Have a great Saturday night all!

And the running keeps going on

Today was my off day from work, but I ran in the evening anyway. Went out at 6:05 p.m. and did 6 laps there, stopped to do some pull up bars. Felt really good today and the pace is dropping, felt faster at an easier effort today. The splits were 6:06,6:03,5:56,5:41,5:53,5:49. Finished the run in 43:26, so maybe around 7.3k. And the running continues

Today I ran again after work at 6:50 p.m. I headed out to the conservatory with Danilo, We ran around 2-3 laps together but then He gapped and vanished. I did 5 laps there in 6:17,6:07,5:44,5:47,5:46, finished the 7.5k in 45:06. Felt good, but a bit tired at the beginning due to yesterday´s run since I had a lot of time without doing more than 8.5k. The weather was decent and I am happy to have started to run consistently.  Have a great night!

Meeting new people

I ran today after work and was a bit upset that I started later than planned, started at 7:10 p.m. luckily it was still clear at that hour. Did 7 laps today there, was not planned by any means, I planned to do 5 laps there and ended up doing 7 laps, the reason is that I got some company there, rarity for me, I ran with a girl that I had seen before but never had talked or run with. Ran with her( her name is Iris) for about 1 lap without saying a word, then I decided to take the lead and We started talking, good conversation and good company, We did around 4-5 laps together. We were running laps sub 6 mins. I finished the 9.5k in 56:48. Dont remember the last time that I ran for that long. Good run and I feel good!

Zapping the zero for good

No running on the weekend.

Today I decided that I needed to train hard again with focus, I have been through bad stuff over the last months, but its time to put my head up and keep moving forward.  I did 39 mins finishing in the conservatory after work, laps were 6:17,6:10,5:58,5:54,5:52, did pull ups there, I am feeling the strength coming in my arms from that exercise, did 3 in a row,I want to gradually up it to 10 in a row, I ll be very strong.  Felt good running and need to do it more consistently if I want to run in the upcoming races.

Back on the running thing

No running since Sunday, no motivation after work nor in the morning. I was motivated and decided to start training for December race, need to get back to my life and to my running passion. After work, did 4 laps in the conservatory and completed the 5.5k in 32 mins, during those laps I joined two guys, one of them had passed me  and gapped me in previous laps, then He sped up again and We left in the dust the other guy, the spanish guy gapped me but not by much, I just went with him, was a hard effort for me right now, that lap was in 5:07, which is too fast these days for me, need to get back to shape, I think I won since He stopped to a walk and I passed him. Did pull ups there and I feel the strength increasing a lot, could do 3 pull ups in a row, I could not do even one. Have a great Friday!

Hot run with father

I had ages without running with my father, so today was the opportunity, We headed out to the conservatory at 8:40 a.m. and I wore my sunglasses, the heat and sun is definetely high. We only did 3 laps there for a total of 5.5k total in 34:36, I am running very slow, but at least I am doing something which is the most important thing. My father finished a bit farther back.  The legs never responded so I just cut the run short!Weather was HOT!! have a great Sunday!

Back again

Did not run at all Thursday or Friday, was busy after work, need to get back to the predawn running next week since I am starting a finances course.

I am off from work today and was out at 8:00 a.m. to the conservatory with my sunglasses, did 7.5k total(5 laps there) in 46:30, very slow but at least I am doing something, felt good. Need to do strength training later today, I say " need" because I dont particulary enjoy doing push ups, I like doing pull ups better because I can chat there with a couple of guys. All in all a good run and a good day to be out there!! Thanks my lord for the opportunity!!

Good after work run

When I got back from work, I got out to the conservatory and did 45 mins there, the laps were slow from 6:14-5:58, I am in bad shape, but at the same time felt good, just slow. Afer the 45 mins several pull ups bar. My chest is tired so I could not get the sets that I wanted, at least did something. Around 7.5k total.

Back to the running groove

After no running since Thursday for the inability to wake up early to run and in the afternoon life getting in the way, I just could get back to run today.

Today after work did 6 laps in the conservatory watchless, and did pull ups there, met new people in the chin up bar, talked a bit, but they did much more pull ups than me. I am a beginner right know, but I can feel the strength improving, did several sets of 1-2 pull ups. Tomorrow push ups. I see yesterdays pictures when I was in Constanza river, I see myself too fat, did not look like an athlete at all, that needs to change. I am heading the right direction I think, but I need to improve my diet a lot.

Nice morning run

Yesterday could not run because I wanted to run after work, but life a work got in the way and I could not run.

Today is a public holiday here, so had the luxury to go out a bit later this morning, went out at 10:40 a.m.  and did 4 laps in the conservatory in 6:10,6:02,5:54,5:52. Then back home for a total of 6.5k@38:53. I think the fitness is coming around slowly, but I need more consistency, had to bring the sunglassses today, the sun was strong. Will do pull ups and push ups tomorrow. Have a great day!

Zapping the zero

On Sunday could not run because lack of planning, ended up the whole day in a accounting course with a coworker, it was good though. That day drank more than I could remember and on Monday I just was hung over, its time to put an end to the alcohol, I am an athlete and I need to behave as such. No more alcohol in a while.

Today I was back on the wagon, felt pretty good out there, ran after work at 6:40 p.m. first 3 laps solo over 6 mins, then my brother ran with me the last 3 with in 5:56,5:53,5:50. Felt pretty good, stopped there and did several sets of pull ups, I almost do 3 today, I am getting there. When got home did 5  x 10 push ups, my arms were tired. A lot of work to do.

 45 mins of total running.

Nice afternoon Saturday run

This afternoon at 5:45 p.m I went out to the conservatory and did 45 mins to finish there, laps were in 6:05-5:55, felt pretty good, then did pull ups, I could do 2 at least. Around 7.5k total, felt great and the fitness is coming around.

Today after work, did 5 laps in the conservatory watchless at a good pace, it was an easy effort, and it was my longes run in 2 months or so. 7.5k total watchless. It feels good to be outside moving the body and sweating, that makes you feel alive. Keep on the great work!

Nice after work run

Have not run since Sunday due to water problems, finally it came back today and I headed out there after work at 6:40 p.m.. Did 5 laps in the conservatory and stayed there to do some pull ups, I could not do 2 complete pull ups, but I ll be able to do it if I set my mind to it and keep at it. The run was good and smooth, around 6.5k watchless.

This morning I woke up at 7:00 a.m. got dressed and was out the door just before 8 a.m. to the conservatory, I did 4 laps there without a watch, felt better as the run went by. 6.5k total watchless!

Easy run in the sunshine

This morning ran  at 10 a.m. so I wore the sun glasses, did 4 laps in the conservatory watchless, and stopped there to do pull ups, I could not do more than 1 pull up in one set, its a shame, I  ve got a lot of work to do. 5.5k total watchless. Need to work out my arms, I started with push ups, hope the pull up improves.

Coming back

Yesterday could not run, but today after work, at 6:50 p.m. headed out to the conservatory  and 3 laps feeling great, did not take the time, but felt great, maybe I have not lost all that fitness. 5.5k total watchless. Have a great Friday!

Back!

Well, after 15 more days without running I am back, ran 3 laps in the conservatory without a watch, felt really good, but out of shape naturally. 5.5k total. Had personal problems during those couple of weeks, but luckily I am back into the groove.

Another run

Today after work I ran at 6:35 p.m. and out to the conservatory, I did 3 laps and back home, put the watch on time of day and did 33:28. I thought that I was going faster for sure, but it seems that I am pretty out of shape, no big deal, I just want the consistency back. Weather was good and the run was decent, caughed once at the same point as yesterday in the run. Have a great night!

Back on the wagon

I was running very little for the past 5 weeks due to the strange sickness that involved a lot of caughing and the severe caughing caused muscular pain in the side like if someone hit me hard. no fever, no congestion, just caughing, I am finally better and today I could run over 30 mins in over a month. I am happy just to be able to run, I ll get back to the groove and I hope to run some good races. I need to update this blog more often, all my runs are posted on Dailymile, but I need  to post that here also.

5.5k without a watch, the economy was terrible.

Back in the blogsphere with a speed workout

I have been out of the blogsphere because this page was giving me some errors and was unable to post any workout. But I am back, This is my first speed workout in like 8 or so months and I am in pretty bad shape in that departament, did a tempo last Friday in only 24:50, hope to get better! My workouts has been posted on dailymile.


I supposed to do 400s in the mirador, but I went to bed pretty late last night because I was not sleepy, on top of that did not fall sleep till 1 a.m., so I decided to take advantage of my last vacation day and sleep in a bit, woke up at 6:50 a.m. and at 8:00 a.m. I headed out to the conservatory warmed up for 17 mins, then stretched a bit, then did 5 x 400s( I dont know if its correct, but effort is the most important here) in 1:35,1:44,1:39,1:41,1:39, with 90 seconds rest, now I understand I ran so bad in the past 5k, I have no speed or speed endurance, these repeats were much slower than last time I did the same route repeats, but oh well! I am working on it and probably that is because the extra pounds, felt like work today and was huffing and puffing the whole workout, I would have liked to do more repeats, but leave it at that since is the first workout of the cycle, its time to get serious again! for cool down did 16:21, wanted to do more but was really thirsty!! The weather was hot!! Have a great day!
