Feeling better

After resting the last couple of days, decided to go predawn this morning, so at 5:50 a.m. I went out with my brother to the mirador, I did only 7k, put the watch on time of day and did 41:18 for the 7k, the left leg felt much better than on Wednesday, I was not limping today so its better, but everytime that I land I am suffering a cramp from the shin to the ankle area, so the shin splints( that feels like if someone hit my leg does not feel to bad, its the recent cramp that made me limp and was bothering me today), felt very good today, honestly, I thought that I was going a bit faster than that, oh well!! Weather was very hot given the predawn hour!

Awful beuatiful predawn run

Finally I ran predawn today, woke up at 5: 15 a.m. had everything ready the night before, dressed and was out, very sleepy . Have rested in the past 2 days, thought that the shin splint were way better since in the race did not bother me at all, ok, the morning was beautiful, really missed running predawn and enjoyed the scenario very much, but I was suffered from the leg pain the whole run, thought to turn back after 1 km, but got to the mirador and did 6k in pain, got better a bit in the final meters of the run, the original plan was to do 8k, but the leg really ruined everything, oh well!! ast least I got my run in, did 36:58 for 6k and put the watch on time of day.
BTW, today I turn 1 year of predawn running or latemorning running, but no evening or afternoon runs, which was my sacred hour!

At least it was a good tempo run

was supposed to be a 10k race , was a 8k race, because they had us waiting 2 hours in the 40 celsius sun, the shortened the race distance, I was hoping to run sub 48 mins at worst in the 10k and I ran 38:16 in 8k which is just that, I raced without a watch, felt bad from the get go, in the second half just took it easy and basically stopped racing, but when my brother told me the time was 38:16 I kind of surprised, I thought that with the easy second half I would get into the 40 mins, so happy about that, but felt dissapointed in the way that I felt after 2 kms, really bad feeling, anyway ran by effort and I just did what my body told me, it was like a 5 mile race. The sun and the weather was very bad, on top of that we waited for 2 hours for the race to start in those temps!! the shin splint did not bother me at all today!

5 runs this week: so the shin splint are getting better, we will see how it responds after this race!

Easy shake out

Yesterday I took the day off!!

This morning I went out around 9:15 a.m. before my classes, was rushed for time but I did what I have planned anyway, did 5.5k to the conservatory with the watch on time of day, ran easy and finished the 5.5k in 32:21, in the last mile I threw a couple of surges to loosen up the legs, finishing the run at a very good pace. Leg bothered me decent today, much less than 2 days ago!
Tomorrow I have my 1st race of the year, its a 10k, not in my best condition, because I have been battling an injury for a month now, and I have cut my training less than a half! should be interesting

Good run in the rain

This morning at 11:20 a.m. to the conservatory after a lot of thinking if I should or not should run with the pain in the leg, decided to try to do 5 laps to the conservatory, went out easy with the leg bothering me , but a bit less than yesterday, put the watch on time of day, after 1 lap it started to rain very hard and I started to feel really good and happy to be out there, not a lot of people really experience that, then suddenly after the rain passed, the sun was shining again, luckily I was cool already, finished the run in 42:21 for 7.5k, feeling great on the lungs and breathing, but the leg not so good. Anyway, I have decided to run the race on sunday, its a 10k, in which I hope to run sub 48 mins , given the training 3 weeks ago, I should be capable of doing 46 mins, but we will see!!just want to feel the racing feel again

Better than yesterday run

This morning failed again in the predawn, but at 10:45 a.m. went out to test the leg after yesterday´s dissapointment, went out without a watch to the conservatory, did 3 laps there and came home for a total of 5.5k untimed. The pace was easy and the stride very short to really minimize impact in each stride, I have to admit that the shin bothered me for the whole run, but in a less degree than yesterday, could make 2 more kms today, however, I compared both legs and man, I really feel good on my right leg, and both legs are really fresh, but that pain is really ruining things off!! at least I can run, weather was a bit hot!! Happy to be out there running!
On Sunday I have a 10k race , I dont have too many opportunities to race because most races are held on Saturday afternoon and at that time I am at work, so I dont know what to do , do you think its a good idea to race through the shin splint or its better to really get over this thing first before thinking about racing again?

Not so happy running!

No predawn running today, everytime my alarm goes off I pospone the run, hate that when I am aware and awake, anyway, by 10 a.m. I went out to do my run, hoping no to suffer from the shin splint , as soon as I went out to the conservatory to do my 7.5k, I was in pain, my running form suffered from the get go, it hurts me more than before resting 1 week with no running, decided to cut the run short and only did around 3.5k without a watch, felt great cardiovasculary, but the pain in the leg was very bad!!

Testing the leg predawn run

Friday and Saturday off due to shin splints, on Friday I even got dressed but it the leg was giving me a lot of problems so I called it a day.
This morning I wanted to come back to predawn even if it was Sunday. The plan today was 8 kms to the mirador easy to test the leg and my confidence, Alexis slept here, so There We was my father, Alexis, Danilo and myself pack of 4 of us, We started out easy and I felt unconfortable as well as the leg, but then I just got into a groove and was feeling better and better, I put the watch on time of day and ran by feel, on the second half , especially the last 2k We really increased pace and Alexis and I were running head to head, I almost beat him in a sprint, but I did not want to turn it into a true race, its just training and I am pretty much injured. At the end the leg was giving me problems, I finished the 8k in 42:27, feeling really good and recovered on the body. It seems that I have not lost a lot in the past 2 weeks of very little running! Weather was excellent.
Runs this week: 3 runs this week due to the shin splint, hope to get back to predawn tomorrow!

Mini short intervals

Today wanted to do my short intervals, but a mini version to test the leg and not to hurry things after my week break. At 10:30 a.m. went out to the conservatory to warm up, put the watch the watch on time of day and warmed up my regular distance, did 16.10, 50 seconds faster than my normal warm up, the shin was bothering me a lot when I started, I thought that it does not have to do with running since I have rested a lot in the past 10 days, probably are my work shoes that are not helping , are very spent and my foot really hit hard on the ground when I walk, anyway, did 5 x 1 min fast, finished tired in the breathing, the legs a bit heavy, but the mindset was fine, felt happy to be back on the intervals, around 10 mins cool down, for a total of 35 mins, yea , too little, but need to be cautious!

Nice morning run

Did not hear the alarm predawn!! but went out at 10:40 a.m. started the run, put the watch on time of day and after halfway push the pace a bit, I was running at tempo pace at the latter stages, felt really good, much better than on Sunday, finished the 5.5k, 3 lpas to the conservatory in 28:43, feeling pretty good and was pretty hot!! Nice run and happy to be back on the roads once again, shin splint bothered me a bit in the beginning, then kind of forget about it!
Yesterday Did not run!!oh well training has to start again, my races are coming closer and I want to be in good shape!

Back to the roads!

After 1 week off due to a tough decision to rest so that my shin splits would get better. Today I did 5.5k in 30:42. I left the watch on time of day, started the Chrono then swtched to time of day, It would be a great idea to do so that I dont track splits during normal runs. The leg felt 100% when I started, after 1 mile of running it started to bother me till the end, did not hurt me like before but I feel it. But I wont rest more, running is my only hobby and one of my priotities in my life so I ll be careful but still running, felt like crap in the last 6-8 mins. Too hot!

A bit of a rest

I have decided given my shin splints to rest till Sunday, so 1 week off, its better to rest and not to run one day and have to rest the next because the leg bother so much, I ll try exercises to strengthen the calves, thus shins and see what happens, I should not lose a lot of fitness in a week off, I ll continue with my workouts anyway!! Tempo run

Yesterday took the day off! wanted to give the leg a bit more rest but planned to do some quality training this morning. This morning really considered taking the day off too, but after a lot of self talking decided to go out at 7:35 a.m. and I dont regret it not even a bit. The leg feel qutie well today, bothered me the minimum and I felt very rested, so running only easy today was not an option I was hungry for a workout, after 2 kms in just under 11:50, that is normal for me in the morning, I sped up to 5:08 for the next km and then wanted to do 10k sub 50 mins, after crossing the 5:08 km, in the km 0 I visualize a tempo running 8 mins miles, in the first 200s had 56 seconds, wait a min, that is my tempo pace, I wanted to ease up but that did not happen, 1:52 for 400s and 4:44 the first km, then decided to do those 5k of the mirador at tempo pace and the last 3k easy, next km came in 4:34, next in 4:35, half in 11:36, ok! that is my normal tempo time, next came in 4:38, honestly in the last 2 kms I was racing a bit the watch to see if I could break 23 mins, then considered that an inmaturity, since this was a controlled effort, in the last 200m had 22:10, so I said , I only have to do sub 50 seconds the last 200s and I am sub 23, I gave it a try and finished the tempo run in 22:58,last km in 4:28. My best tempo run in a while, I have to admit that I forced a bit the pace to get the time, the time should come naturally for this tempo runs, did for those 8k 39:46( around goal half marathon pace), of course the first 2k were slow as hare. Then decided to wait Danilo, but he lasted too much, had to wait around 20 mins talking with a couple of runners, then did 3k cool down to home. Felt a bit tired on the legs in the last part since this time I did not stop to stretch, ran nonstop and increased from 5:08 pace to 4:44 pace rightaway, I wish I could do that in races!! Weather was decent and leg feeling good! Tomorrow is supposed to be a rest day, but I have rested more than necessary this week,at least I am getting in my quality work in and feeling very good! We will see maybe ll throw 8k tomorrow morning!

Predawn easy 10k

Yesterday I decided to take the day off, as soon as I got out of bed my left shin splin was bothering me a lot and I decided to call it a day right away, took ibuprophen and massage the are a bit so that I could be better for this morning.
This morning woke up at 5:35 a.m. and my father and I were out at 6:10 a.m. a bit late for a weekday, when I started the shin splint bothered me, but I thought that it was going to be worse, bothered the first min of the run, then it eased up a bit, but never dissapeared. Today I did 10k easy with the out 5k in 30:50 and the back 5k in 26:58. I always run much better in the second half since I start the run halfasleep. The weather was great, finished the run in 57:50. Tomorrow I want to do a workout but that will depend on my left leg.
